My life, chaos and all...

11 months and 3 weeks...

8 Months and 3 weeks adjusted....
Her adjusted age is the age she is supposed to be, if she wasn't born 3 months early.
Wow, next week it happens, Mikayla will no longer be an infant. I can not believe my lil 2.2 pound miracle is fast becoming a toddler. I look at her and think wow, we are doing it, we are really being parents. To watch her grow and learn and get to say "hey I taught her that" is by far the greatest feeling I have known. She is now 18.9 pounds and 29 inches long. She is doing great growing and developing into her own.
Here are what we call the "Birthday Bear" pictures. I take them about every 3 months, it is awesome to see how much she is growing. I want to continue this tradition until she graduates and then when she has kids I will give it to her. Hope they like pink lol!

6 months

9 months

1 year (well almost lol)

She has 6 teeth now, the 2 on the bottom and 4 on the top now!! She still isn't big on eating but she loves to taste and have bites. We are starting her on plain milk this month however we have to supplement her twice a day with pediasure to make sure she is getting everything she needs until she is eating like they want her to be. But her development teams (two teams that come out every other week) think around 14 months old she will not have the need to suck as much and will be more interested in filling her belly with food instead of milk (basically her adjusted year). She jabbers and talks all the time now. Her vocabulary includes: Daddy now not just DaDa, Mom and Momma (FINALLY lol), Hi (whispered only lol), she also tries to say Gie (Aggie is her puppy and she calls them by yelling GIE!!), she tries to say TaTa (her Aunt Tata is my sister Krista--I couldn't say Krista when I was little), she says Lolu (I love you), she will even say no on occasion. She is working on saying bite, byebye, and everything else she hears lol. She figured out how to clap a couple weeks ago and now loves to clap, she sings to us (another one of her fave past times, MUSIC everything and anything to do with it). We are working on holding up one finger when people ask how old she is, we hope to have it down for her party. Here is Kaykay's party outfit and 1 year pictures I did.

She is and I hope always will be, lil Miss Independent. She still insists on holding her bottle by herself. She wants to feed herself and eats anything we do just in tiny bits. She loves pees the most. She army crawls all the time. The only thing she is behind on development wise really is Gross Motor; crawling, pulling up, walking, etc.. But they think as soon as she gets a little bit bigger and gets a little more strength she will be unstoppable lol. Here are some pics from today:

This is Kaykay and her new big girl jammies, and of course her blankie, it is still the only thing she WILL NOT share with Baxbax. LoL she is such a silly girl.

Here are some pics of her helping me make Daddy's birthday card.

What happens when Mommy is done taking pictures...

She wants to be going non-stop which is soo much better then the preemie days of wanting to sleep all the time and reacting from to much stimulation. She has figured out the stroller is quite fun and loves to ride and watch stuff. We were hoping she would hit the 20lb mark by her first birthday so we could turn her seat around for her. However the only thing her teams wanted her to do was make 12lbs by her first birthday so she is doing so awesome. She is the nosiest lil girl though, she wants to know what/who it is, how it works, why its here, etc... Lol Here she is getting ready for a lunch date with her Grandmommie.

She still sleeps great. Her fave thing to do is just hang out in the floor with you and play. She knows where we keep the toys and crawls over and grabs what she wants or just plays over by them. She also loves loves loves to play with the Wii boxes lol.

For Mother's Day we all went fishing, it was a ton of fun. Kaykay woke up and gave me a gift and then wore her new bikini fishing, too cute!! Yes she did eventually wake up lol.

Fishing at the lake:

Her daddy hates it lol, and says she better enjoy it now because its the only when she gets to ever wear LOL.

She had her first family reunion too. Eric thought he would have fun and take her to play on the toys and she had the same serious look on her face the whole time LOL! It was hilarious!!!

That is about all we have been up to lately, besides just being silly here at home and getting ready for the birthday party. We are enjoying being able to get out of the house with her more now (if you couldn't tell). We can not wait until next weekend, this has been a journey that though terrifying at times turned out amazing and a constant reminder of how blessed we are. Its something we wish would never have happened but we will be forever changed because of (for the better I like to think). I know its far from over, but this stuff is a piece of cake compared to the constant NICU lol. I cant wait until we celebrate her birthday! I can guarantee another blogl to follow that lol.

I came into the world, 1 month early. I cannot imagine, arriving 3 months early.

This must have been a trial of worry for both your hubby & you.
Your little girl is looking healthy & happy..this is so good to see.

(I was born w/Marfans Syndrome. This effects the connective tissue. I was a plecenta-preva birth. )

Life throws us many challenges. The unexpected sometimes can bring wonderful rewards.

I'm reading your blog with interest.

My blog is somewhat "naughty" (material-wise)..so if you click into it, and are offended, I apologize beforehand.

I just had to comment, after reading and seeing your blog.

It is just wonderful. You have a wonderful writing style, btw.

Good Luck,
to you & yours,
b./Cain.
